All the above factors contribute to the great potential of Russian economy for integration in the worldwide economy. Traditionally, Russian companies have strong positions in sectors mostly having a scientific background, arts, culture and natural resources. The main reason for lack of success in other fields is the lack of experience in and failure to invest in marketing, which is a legacy of the Soviet Union and its command economy.

Recently there has been a positive development where Russian specialists who left Russia to work abroad have begun trickling back, bringing with them invaluable experience in marketing and sales as well as business ties needed for the young industries. Also, there has been an influx of Western managers into Russian companies, where they usually serve in Marketing, Sales or Business Development.

About St. Petersburg
After the turn of the new millenium St. Petersburg is growing both economically and socially. More and more foreign businesses are being attracted to the city;s new business climate. Although, still behind Moscow in economic terms, St. Petersburg had become a modern, rapidly growing commercial city.

Russia’s greatest historical and cultural treasure, its "Northern Capital" - the famous "Venice of the North". Virtually unharmed by the 1930-50s period of Stalinist reconstruction, downtown St. Petersburg is crowded with splendid palaces, impressive historical monuments, tree-lined avenues and beautiful bridges.

Although not yet 300 years old, St. Petersburg is a city crammed with historical and cultural associations and a refined air of mystery. There you will see the highlights of the city, beautiful wide river Neva with its granite embankments, large and small bridges, the unique architectonic ensembles such as:

  • the Spit of Vasilievsky Island and Peter & Paul Fortress,
  • the Decembrists' Square with the monument of Peter the Great
  • St.Isaac's Cathedral and Isaakievskaya Square,
  • the spacious & majestic Palace Square with the best baroque style building Winter Palace and famous Alexander Column,
  • the Summer Garden with its marble Italian statues and Summer palace of Peter the Great,
  • the Field of Mars and harmonic Arts Square with Russian museum,
  • Our Saviour's Church in Russian style,
  • Smolny monastery and Institute and, of course,
  • Nevsky Avenue (Nevsky prospekt) - the main street of the city.
Although the phenomenon known as the "White Nights" is not unique to St Petersburg, in no other northern city have they received such poetic and literary acclaim. What could be more romantic than a walk along the banks of the city’s rivers and canals in almost broad daylight, no matter what time? No other major European city can rival this experience nor the atmosphere on the streets of St. Petersburg during the summer months – lively, friendly, romantic and bustling with people throughout the night as well as the day!
